SUMMARY OF THE VIBSYS 2022 CONFERENCE
The 30th Jubilee Conference Vibrations in Physical Systems VIBSYS 2022 finished and now is the time for reflection and summaries.
The Symposium was held on September 26-28, 2022 at the Lecture Center of the Poznan University of Technology. The Conference is periodically organized by both the Poznan Division of the Polish Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics and the Institute of Applied Mechanics of the Poznan University of Technology.
This year’s edition was held in a hybrid mode. Most of the participants took part in the conference on the spot while 11 papers/posters were presented via an online platform. They represented 21 Polish and foreign scientific centers. The largest group were scientists from the Poznan University of Technology, the Lodz University of Technology and the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow. During the Conference 54 scientific presentations were given, including 3 plenary lectures, 40 oral presentations and 11 posters. The symposium was attended by many invited guests, including the members of the Section of Dynamics of the Committee of Mechanics of the Polish Academy of Science who joined the Conference on the last day.
The opening ceremony was attended by Prof. D.Sc. Eng. Wojciech Sumelka, the Vice-Rector of the Poznan University of Technology for Research, Ph.D. Eng. Justyna Trojanowska, the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering for Cooperation with Industry, Asst. Prof. Paweł Jasion, the Director of the Institute of Applied Mechanics, Asst. Prof. Małgorzata Jankowska and Asst. Prof. Roman Starosta, the Chairs of the Organizing Committee of the VIBSYS 2022 Conference.
The plenary speakers gave the following lectures:
- Prof. D.Sc. Eng. Tomasz SZOLC (Institute of Fundamental Technological Research, Polish Academy of Science, Poland), “Structural hybrid modelling applied to investigate current problems of rotor dynamics“,
- Prof. D.Sc. Eng. Wojciech BATKO (AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków & Carpathian State University in Krosno, Poland), “Identification of acoustic phenomena in a non-euclides space“,
- Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Pavel POLACH (Research and Testing Institute Plzen, Czech Republic), “An overview of nonlinear vibration phenomena in hydrodynamic journal bearings“.
On the first day of the Symposium a special session dedicated to the memory of prof. Czesław Cempel was held. Prof. Czesław Cempel worked in the Institute of Applied Mechanics and organized the VIBSYS conference many times. He was a chairman and honorary member of the scientific committee. The special session was chaired by asst. prof. Roman Barczewski, while presentations summarizing the profile of the professor and his scientific achievements were delivered by invited guests – prof. Marian Dobry, prof. Bogdan Żółtowski and prof. Stefan Weyna.
The important point during the Conference VIBSYS is a competition for young scientists on the best presentation of the research results by the young researcher. The young researchers session took place on September 27 (Tuesday), 2022. It was attended by 14 young researchers from various research centers in Poland. They presented 15 papers in the form of an oral presentations. The competition committee consisted of: Prof. D.Sc. Eng. Wojciech BATKO (AGH University of Science and Technology, Poland), Asst. Prof. Eng. Roman BARCZEWSKI (Poznan University of Technology, Poland), Assoc. Prof. Eng. Marian DOBRY (Poznan University of Technology, Poland), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Pavel POLACH (Research and Testing Institute Plzen, Czech Republic), Prof. D.Sc. Eng. Tomasz SZOLC (Institute of Fundamental Technological Research Polish Academy of Science, Poland).
The committee decided that the prize will be awarded to the following young scientists:
- Ph.D. Eng. Grzegorz GEMBALCZYK (Silesian University of Technology, Poland) – the first place diploma for the presentation under the title “Suspension system with variable stiffness for mobile robots”,
- M.Sc. Eng. Filip SARBINOWSKI (Poznan University of Technology, Poland) – the second place diploma for the presentation under the title “Comprehensive study of galloping energy harvesters”,
- M.Sc. Eng. Martyna SOPA (Poznan University of Technology, Poland) – the third place diploma for the presentation under the title “Two dimensional mechanical model of human stability in external force-caused fall”.
Congratulations to the winners!
On the third day of the Conference the special scientific session of the Section of Dynamics of the Committee of Mechanics of the Polish Academy of Science was held. It was chaired by Prof. D.Sc. Eng. Jerzy Warmiński. The session was attended by conference participants, members of the Section of Dynamics and invited guests. The session was preceded by the opening ceremony, which was attended by: Prof. D.Sc. Eng. Jerzy Warmiński – the Chairman of the Section of Dynamics of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Assoc. Prof. Eng. Olaf Ciszak – the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Asst. Prof. Eng. Paweł Jasion – the Director of the Institute of Applied Mechanics and Asst. Prof. Eng. Roman Starosta – the Chairman of the Poznan Division of the Polish Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics.
The special scientific session of the Section of Dynamics was the last regular session of the 30. Jubilee VIBSYS Conference 2022, followed by the ceremonial closing of the Conference.
The following people were involved in the organization of the VIBSYS 2022 Conference: Chairs of the Organizing Committee – Asst. Prof. Eng. Małgorzata Jankowska and Asst. Prof. Eng. Roman Starosta, Secretary of the Conference – Ph.D. Eng. Magdalena Mierzwiczak and Asst. Prof. Eng. Roman Barczewski, Ph.D. Eng. Mikołaj Bilski, M.Sc. Beata Czerkas, Ms Paulina Fopp, Ph.D. Eng.
